Geography "on the edge"
A few years after the publication of The Space(s) of Geography, the authors' collective, which has been little changed, has come together again and the result is a publication whose ambition is to move interest in spatiotemporal experience from the imaginary "periphery" of geography to its "core". The book is not interested in one seemingly majority experience, but rather in heterogeneous experiences, unique to each. Using eleven specific experiences as examples, it presents how they can enrich societal knowledge. The experience of living without children and a partner, for example, points to the very topical issue of establishing boundaries between personal and professional space and time. The experience of redundancy experienced by unskilled workers opens up the question of the possibility of free choice of spatio-temporal behaviour. The experience of movement without sight brings us closer to the role of unconscious behaviour in our everyday life. The aim of the book is to contribute to thinking about each experience as equally important, and to point out that the duality of 'core' and 'edge' is not conducive to the development of geographical thinking, and that it is time to abandon it.
