Franz Werfel: The Song of Bernadette

"The Song of Bernadette" by the Prague-based German author Franz Werfel is a breathtaking literary treatment of the Marian apparition that took place in Lourdes in southern France in 1858. In the best traditions of literary impressionism, the author has created a work that convincingly presents the life of St. Bernadette Soubirous.
