Victor Frankenstein is obsessed with finding out how life is created. One fateful night, a lightning strike brings his experiment to life. However, Victor soon decides that the two-and-a-half-metre creature with yellow skin and a blank stare that he has created is a monster. So Victor has successfully created life, but his creation is now obsessed with its own desire - and for both of them, death may be the only way out.
MARY SHELLEYMary Shelley was born in London in 1797. She began writing Frankenstein in 1816 when she competed with her husband Percy and his friend Lord Byron to see who could write the better ghost story. Eighteen-year-old Mary won, at a time when women were not expected to be writers. Frankenstein deals with life, death and man's struggle with nature and reflects Mary's feelings of loneliness and rejection.
