Folk buildings in Europe
This publication, unique on our market, introduces the reader to the context of the emergence of folk architecture in the Czech Republic and in neighbouring and other European countries. On the basis of historical and ethnological studies, it deals with the origin and development of local architecture of dwellings from their basic forms to their peak in different natural and social conditions. It explains the influence of traditions that created stylistically uniform areas in certain time periods. It also focuses on the historical changes in the functions of buildings and the demands of their users. The book also explains the concept of vernacular architecture and its relationship to the style architecture. The text is accompanied by illustrative drawings of design principles and photographs of architectural units.
