Florence: the scent of the Tuscan lily

Florence, Italy, is now a treasure trove of artistic monuments. In the past, however, it also had a decisive influence on the political life of fragmented Italy. It achieved extraordinary fame in the 13th-16th centuries. The economic and cultural importance of the town also emerged from this period of prosperity. The ruling Medici family invited a number of important painters, sculptors and architects to build Renaissance Florence, giving this Tuscan city on the Arno a unique atmosphere. With art historian Petr Porcal, Miloš Doležal wandered in the footsteps of Italian painters in Florentine churches and monasteries.
