A gripping adventure set against the backdrop of Louis XV's France comes to a close

Upon returning to her homeland, Céline faces problems not only with the restoration of her neglected family estate. The murderess Bernarda, who swore revenge on her, escapes from prison just before her execution and disappears despite an extensive search. Thierry Leroux, a medical student who never finished his studies, gains increasing popularity among poor patients, drawing unwanted attention from the powerful. When he wants to go out into the world again, Céline confesses her feelings for him and persuades him to stay. However, the situation becomes unexpectedly complicated. The war, which will one day be called the Seven Years' War, is draining the state treasury. King Louis XV arrives in the region to replenish it with the help of his nobility. Céline, finding herself in a critical situation, needs his help once more.
