Fear chokes Prague

Two detective stories by a well-known Czech author. In the first, we meet Jakub Protivou, the town's town crier from Protivec, who is searching for the mysterious murderer of young women. His unexpected helpers are the witty Franciscan monk Blasius and the plain-spoken bride Magdalena. In the second story, Jakub Protiva of Protivec and the monk Blasius face the rampage of a mysterious vampire feared by the entire New Town of Prague. They are said to be the miraculously revived Irish alchemist who is responsible for the murders and possible disappearance of a valuable relic - the tooth of St. Jerome.
