Experiments on plant hybrids. Experiments on plant hybrids

Experiments on plant hybrids. Experiments on plant hybrids
Thanks to his experiments with pea plants, first presented in 1866, Gregor Mendel is often called the father of modern genetics. But was it really his intention to discover the laws of heredity and the specific properties of genes, or was this motivation retrospectively attributed to him based on current knowledge? These questions have been the subject of a long-running debate among historians of science, centred on the English translation of Mendel's original work. This new translation, accompanied by extensive commentary and published by the Mendel Museum with the support of the British Society for the History of Science, aims to provide valuable, significant, and new insights that will contribute to the long-term task of understanding Mendel.
