Even old age brings records

As the author's seventieth birthday approached, he decided to celebrate it on a skiing expedition to the North Pole. Two years later, he added the South Pole and found himself in the Guinness Book of World Records. The author presents his experiences in preparing for the expeditions, a description of their course and how he dealt with the dramatic situations he encountered along the way. His account is also supplemented by his experiences from a month-long stay at the simple ECO-Nelson polar station in Antarctica.
