Ethics and communication in medicine

This book presents a selection of the 25 most significant texts from monographs on the topic of Ethics and Communication in Medicine, published by Grada between 2011–2024. These were released in conjunction with the conference series of the same name organised by the Czech Medical Chamber. Each conference/monograph focused on a specific, narrower theme, such as the doctor-patient relationship, lege artis in medicine, euthanasia, justice, compassion, hope, dignity, or pain in medicine. The entire conference/monograph project was carried out as part of the lifelong learning for doctors, initiated by Prof. PhDr. et PhDr. Radek Ptáček, Ph.D., MBA.
The publication is divided into three sections: Aspects of Medical Ethics, Aspects of Communication in Medicine, and Legal Aspects. A total of 22 authors—ethicists, philosophers, theologians, psychologists, lawyers, and doctors—contributed to the texts. Most of them have revised and updated their contributions for this new publication. The multiple texts by Prof. Radek Ptáček reflect the extraordinary contribution of the founder of the Ethics and Communication in Medicine series and conference cycle to this field, which every doctor should master.
