Estates Theatre 1824-1862, Volumes I and II

The publication is a continuation of the two-volume monograph Provisional Theatre 1862-1883 (Academia - National Theatre, Prague 2006). Using the same methodology, it maps in detail the Czech-language repertoire of the Prague Estates Theatre from 1824, when a professional Czech company began to take shape, to the founding of the Provisional Theatre in 1862. The research was based on the signs as a primary and unique source, but their information was verified and supplemented by studying other sources, contemporary press and literature. The use of the specialised database Electronic Theatre Archive enabled the compilation of not only an inventory of productions and performances, but also an overview of the activities of the creators, stagers and performers of the Estates Theatre in this period.
