Aesthetic epistemology
The idea of the mutual methodological interdependence of research and art, which emerged at the end of the last century, reveals new possibilities for research and allows us to conceptually grasp research that would be based on art. Dieter Mersch, a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts, deconstructs the terminology associated with questions of the relationship between aesthetics and scientific truth in his penetrating study, seeking to uncover in artistic practices a way of thinking that does not use language and whose statements are not translatable into the discursive forms of science. He thus defends distinctive aesthetic thinking aside from linguistic turns, which cannot be replaced by anything else.
