Emma

All she wants for everyone is love and happiness, but what about her own life?

Since it was first published in 1815, Jane Austen's Emma has been the heroine of many girls and women who don't want to be fragile flowers tormented by circumstance. They want to decide their own destiny, even at the cost of mistakes, errors and disappointments. The story of a girl with a good heart is a timeless tale of emancipation and the search for true values in life.
The rich and intelligent Emma lives in a closed rural community and makes every effort to form suitable marital connections among her friends and acquaintances. Without realizing that it is not appropriate to interfere in people's destinies, she is quite confident in her "fun". The consequences of Emma's reckless actions often catch not only their creator by surprise...
At the Hartfield family estate, that Emma shares with her hypochondriac father, engages in boring activities suitable for a young lady - embroidery, paints, visits the poor, and also looks after Mr Woodhouse's health, which is not at all satisfying. With great enthusiasm, he decides to make the people around him happy. Convinced of her own infallibility - and with a great deal of self-confidence - she influences interpersonal relations not only on her estate.

They wrote about the book

The extensive novel could not be translated into the form of a radio play in every detail. However, Petra Kovářová has dramatised it in such a way that it retains the spirit of the place, time and especially the humour of the famous novelist. Directed by Hana Mikolášková, the production is energetic, witty and hilarious, as is its central character, played by Tereza Richtrová, and her dazzling partner Luboš Veselý as Mr Knightley.
