Echoes of Run

Their love was forbidden, but its echoes resound through eternity.

He'll be back... the runes told her.
When Mia inherits Birch Thorpe, a summer cottage in Sweden, from her beloved grandmother, she faces a difficult decision. Her fiancé Charles urges her to sell the house and buy a luxury flat in London. Mia hesitates. When the opportunity arises to take part in an archaeological research project to discover Viking artefacts on her land, similar to the gold ring that is part of her grandmother's inheritance, she happily agrees. It gives her time and distance to think things through.
The excavation completely absorbs Mia and the handsome archaeologist Haakon Berger is not completely indifferent to her either. Like her, she feels a kind of kinship with the ancient inhabitants of these places, whose life stories are being revealed more and more every day. The ancient story of the Welsh noblewoman Ceri and the mysterious Viking known as the White Falcon, who kidnapped her in 869, begins to unfold before Mia and Haakon's eyes.
As echoes of the past intrude on their lives, but also enemies threaten Birch Thorpe and its inhabitants, Mia and Haakon must fight to protect what they hold most dear...

Christina Courtenay

She is an award-winning author of historical novels and stories set in different eras. She started writing so she could stay home with her two daughters, but her first book wasn't published until her first-born daughter moved away at the age of twenty-one. So everything didn't go quite according to plan. Since then, however, she has published eleven novels and has twice won the RNA Award for Best Historical Romance Novel of the Year - the first time for Highland Storms (2012) and the second time for The Gilded Fan (2014). The novel Echoes of the Runes won the RNA Award for best romantic fantasy novel. Christina is half Swedish and grew up in Sweden. She has also lived in Japan and Switzerland, but now lives in Herefordshire, near the Welsh border. She is an avid amateur genealogist and loves history and archaeology (from the comfort of her armchair).
