East Bohemian races and circuits

The book East Bohemian Races and Circuits is another continuation of the look at motor racing on city circuits and hillclimb races. It is loosely based on the editions from central, northern and western Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. Road racing in East Bohemia began in the mid 1920s. Even in these parts of the country, competitors of renowned names competed and many races had international participation.

The first pre-war part recalls the beginnings in Hořice, Hradec Králové, Nová Paka, Bohdanec, Brandýs nad Orlicí and other places. The second part is chronologically devoted to post-war racing from more than thirty places in this region – Litomyšl, Jičín, Nový Bydžov, Náchod, Pardubic, Holic, Dvůr Králové and many others. In the third separate part you will get acquainted with some excellent racers, designers and mechanics whose names were famous all over Europe in their time – Čeněk Junek, Vlastimil Rain, Václav Rathouský, Miroslav Felgr, Jiri Kostir, Zbyněk Havrda.

The designers, especially the motorcycle ones, have given the above and other races a stamp of technical development and thus pushed the level of racing further. AHRA motorcycles were born in Hradec Králové, Ravo machines in Dvůr Králové nad Labem, MS motorcycles in Jaroměř, Perti machines near Ústí nad Orlicí and FGR machines entered the new twenty-first century in the same town. And that wasn't all. VAB motorcycles were built in Ceska Trebova and Mali machines with Czech Jawa engines and the already mentioned AHRA engine were built in Hostinné.

The book is supplemented by maps of the circuits, period, unpublished photographs and, as usual, the results balance sheets.
