Drobek's Strange Adventure

Drobek's Wondrous Adventure is a fantastical tale from the world of dwarves who call themselves stinkers because they don't wash (they hate water) and feed on discarded, no longer smelly food that they procure on their provisioning trips to garbage cans. People can neither see nor hear them, but only - very distinctly - feel them.

The Dwarf World mirrors a number of social problems in this original and funny first novel for older children by Brno-based director, playwright and screenwriter Ondřej Elbel: the story subliminally highlights the rampant waste of food (after all, we're going to feed the whole dwarf world with it! ), the mayor's spokesman manages to remove the mayor and manipulate the dwarven people, and finally, in a staged, unfair trial, he punishes the protagonist, Drobek, with a big bath, the worst punishment for any stinker.
