Dracula
Jonathan Harker's journey to Transylvania should have been easy, but Dracula's castle is shrouded in mystery. It resembles a maze and its owner only appears in the middle of the night, while during the day he sleeps in a deep, cold dungeon! Jonathan is desperate to return to England, but first he must get out of the castle - and pray that Count Dracula doesn't follow him.
Bram (Abraham) Stoker was born in Dublin in 1847. While writing theatre reviews for the Dublin Evening Mail, he became acquainted with its co-owner Sheridan Le Fanu. He wrote gothic novels and Stoker was inspired by him. After a trip to the English seaside town of Whitby, he got the idea for the novel Dracula, which went on to become one of the most famous works of English literature.
