My life couldn't be any better. I have a beautiful baby daughter and I'm engaged to the man I feel like I've loved forever.

So when my handsome fiancé Nick announces that his sister Carla, who has been missing for years, is finally coming home, it feels like the cherry on top.

Carla was my best friend, but then she ran away from home when she was sixteen. That was twelve years ago – and no one has seen her since.

Everyone is thrilled about her return, including me, of course, but the more time I spend with her, the more I get the nagging feeling that something isn't right. She's acting strangely, she doesn't remember our shared childhood experiences, and she's suspiciously evasive about the years she's been away.

But no one wants to listen to my concerns – not Nick, not Carla's mother Marjorie, not even our old friends. They all tell me I'm just imagining it.
