The sixteenth century begins. Although the Templars, led by the Borgia family, have been outwardly defeated, they still haven't given up their chance to regain power. Their key to this lies in a mysterious library, sealed long ago by the ancient Assassin Mentor, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, in the Syrian fortress of Masyaf. The Templars now control this fortress, and their goal is singular – to unseal the library and claim Altaïr's legacy. The path to it is paved by acquiring several books, scattered years ago by Niccolò Polo across various locations in Constantinople.

An ageing Assassin Mentor, Ezio Auditore, feels the end of his life approaching, yet he knows his task is not yet complete. He journeys to Byzantium to uncover a secret that could change not only his own worldview but also the entire balance of power in the fight between the eternal enemies – the Assassins and the Templars. Will he succeed, or will his lifelong efforts remain unfulfilled?
