The author received the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for this novel

Following the successful thriller No Country for Old Men, this American writer delivers a 'sci-fi' novel, and the quotation marks are, once again, very appropriate.

The novel The Road is set in a world scorched by an unknown catastrophe. A father and son travel through a grey, wintry landscape, terrified by any sign that they are not the only survivors; they can certainly expect nothing good from the last remaining people. The pair are kept alive only by what they can carry in their shopping trolley and what they occasionally find in empty houses. Their destination is the coast, but even there, of course, it seems that hope no longer exists. Or does it?

"(...) one of the most distinctive novels of recent years: The Road by the American Cormac McCarthy. The story, from a ravaged world where a harsh struggle for life breaks out, won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize."
