Diamond Eye

In 1937, in a snow-covered Kyiv, a timid, book-loving history student named Mila Pavlichenko organises her life around her work in a library and her young son. But Hitler’s invasion changes everything. Given a rifle and sent into battle, Mila is transformed from a student into a lethal sniper—a deadly hunter of Nazis known as Lady Death. When news of her 300th kill makes her a national heroine, Mila is pulled from the bloody battlefields of the Eastern Front and sent on a goodwill tour of America. Still reeling from the horrors of war, Mila finds herself isolated and lonely in the glittering world of Washington, D.C., until an unexpected friendship with First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and an even more unexpected relationship with a fellow sniper begin to help her back to herself.
