It is set between 1740 and 1745, when the settled parts of the New York colony consisted of only four Atlantic counties and a few outlying settlements on the Mohawk and Schoharie rivers. The country to the east of the Mississippi River offered a view of a vast expanse of forest, bounded only by a narrow strip of cultivated land along the sea, dotted with mirror lakes and interspersed with rippling rivers. This is how author J. F. Cooper. In this episode, let's be transported to the US-Canadian border, where a frontier fort on a lake is attacked by the Huron tribe. The defenders must prove their wits, strength and cunning to defend a piece of land from the savage Indians. And although they fight to the death, their rivalry is based on agreements and rules.
