Death is my craft - Masters of the word

From one perspective, a model father and loving husband, from another, a human beast who watches innocent people die every day. The open confession of Nazi Rudolf Lang (actually Rudolf Höss), who takes command of the concentration camp, shows fanaticism in several forms. First the religious one, when a strongly religious family puts pressure on the teenage Rudolf to become a priest, and then the military fanaticism, when the desire for power overshadows the last vestiges of humanity. Robert Merle wrote the novel Death is My Craft based on the writings of the real commander of the Auschwitz concentration camp, Rudolf Höss, capturing not only the tragedy of World War II, but also the personal failure of an individual who succumbed to a false illusion.
