Dance, Matilda

In a dramatic story inspired by the authors' personal experiences, Karel is forced by circumstances to care for his mother Matylda, who has fallen ill with Alzheimer' s disease, and at the same time resolve the strained family relationships with her and his son Pavel. What seemed like a hopeless situation turned everyone' s lives upside down. The story of how they cope with this challenge contains not only tragedy, but also humor and, above all, hope. The film Dance Matylda is one of the most striking films in Czech cinematography in recent years. He received several nominations for the Film Critics Awards and the Czech Lion Award, two of which he won. His book adaptation develops the characters and their inner lives and expands the story with new motifs.
