Czech woman in a headscarf
A Muslim by her own conviction and a headscarf out of love for God. This book will shake up your preconceived notions about Muslim women. It tells the life story of Kateřina, a native Czech woman who converted to Islam at the age of 21 after extensive reading and study, and later voluntarily began to wear a headscarf. As a publicly active Muslim who has long been committed to education and dialogue, she has faced intense hatred. Death threats and the inability of the police and courts to deliver justice ultimately led to a battle for her mental health. Kateřina now lives mainly in Hurghada, Egypt, with her family, where she has found peace and a sense of security again. In the book, she openly describes her journey to Islam, the Islamophobic scene in the Czech Republic, and her own fight for justice and mental well-being. At the same time, she offers a broader perspective on Islam, the Middle East, and the Czech debate about Muslims.
