From Prachatice to Cape Town
Going to Africa and experiencing the nature there is every boy's dream. Not everyone, however, finds the strength to actually live such a childhood dream. This is the story of a dream that really happened. It starts under Mount Libín and in the saddle of a bicycle. What has his protagonist become on his journey? What kind of people did he meet? What did he experience in the sand and wind amidst the Sahara dunes? Why was he carrying a pickaxe handle? Did he meet his dream elephant in the rainforest? And what did he discover about the darkness he had always feared? Take him on a journey through mountains, deserts, savannahs and tropical forests.
My name is Tadeáš Šíma, I am 27 years old and I come from Prachatice, South Bohemia. In 2016 I went to Africa for the first time by bike. From my hometown I pedaled all the way to Rabat, Morocco, where I was ambushed by a group of young bandits who robbed me of my bicycle and my drive to continue my journey. But my stubbornness prevailed and a year later I set out again. From the Moroccan port city of Tangier I pedalled along the west coast to Cape Town. The entire journey took 7 months and was 13,000 kilometres long. Which is about 650 Cherry Boys.
1 Cherry tree = 20 km (note. of the author)
