Culture of the spoken word

The original album "Kultura mluveného slova" was released by Supraphon in 1978 - now the title is being released digitally for the first time. Introduction to examples from rhetorical practice (PhDr. Jarmila Vrchotová-Pátová, CSc. ) There is no doubt that even with a verbal critical description of the shortcomings of vocal expression, everyone will agree with our criticism. However, the description may not always be fully accurate and not everyone has a sufficiently developed imagination in this respect; Finally, not everyone is aware of their own vocal expression - and even fewer are those who would be able to improve their speech from mere verbal instruction. Therefore, the most expressive and convincing is a live demonstration, both of flaws and mistakes and of examples of correct speech. For these reasons this record was created. It cannot, of course, contain examples in an exhaustive way, since, for example, sound technology does not have the plasticity of a truly live - unreproduced - example for some examples (for example, dynamics and its extreme shades - fortissimo or pianissimo, with which speakers can either dull or put their listeners to sleep). Examples of "rattling" or faulty syllables are not shown. This pronunciation defect can be corrected at any age with the help of a speech therapist. At the same time, however, we must objectively admit that an excellent speaker-educator, who is both suggestive and thought-provoking, will certainly be forgiven a defective "r" or a defective "s". The texts on which the demonstrations are performed are selected from the scripts.
