Common diseases of the digestive tract
The monograph is dedicated to „ ordinary – common“ diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The experienced editors chose this topic for two good reasons. The first is that just about „ common“ is not written and often remains in the grey of routine clinical practice. The second is that a number of diseases and conditions are dealt with by doctors of multiple specialties, but they do not always speak the same language, as they encounter the disease at different stages – some with findings that require no more than simple patient monitoring, others already at a stage with life-threatening complications.
The editors consider the issue of common diseases to be important and topical and highlight the need to know the views of other specialties. More than 20 disease states were selected for the monograph, such as a peptic ulcer, infectious gastroenteritis, celiac disease, diverticular disease, cholelithiasis, hemorrhoids, irritable bowel, liver cirrhosis and steatosis, appendicitis and colourectal cancer.
The book is of particular interest to general practitioners, internists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, paediatricians and other specialists.
