Clinical radiobiology

The publication provides a comprehensive view of the entire field – from the latest knowledge of the effects of ionizing radiation at the subcellular level before the consequences of tissue-level damage to the clinical consequences (radiation sickness).

It deals with the issue of irradiated or contaminated persons, diagnostics and specialized treatment in centres designated for this purpose. Attention is also paid to the possible uses of radioprotective agents, including their side effects.

Last but not least, the reader will learn about the tasks of the integrated rescue system in the event of a radiation emergency and specific radiation accidents and accidents that have endangered humanity and the environment in the past.

The author team consists of physicians and specialists in radiobiology, molecular biology, ionizing radiation, radiation protection, specialists in internal medicine and disaster medicine. The publication combines the authors' own experience with the knowledge gained from the study of the literature.
