The textbook is intended mainly for students of practical nursing, nursing and medical lyceum. It is suitable not only for students of higher education – for qualified general nurses and qualified paramedics, but also for nurses and paramedics in practice.

The second edition provides updated information on health, disease and prevention. It introduces individual clinical disciplines, examination methods, anamnesis, diagnostics, objective and subjective symptoms of the most common diseases. It also includes a chapter on pharmacology, as knowledge and administration of medicines is an integral part of the work of healthcare professionals and, conversely, ignorance of medicines and their side effects can endanger the health and life of patients.

The book is supplemented with pictures and tables for better overview and orientation. There are review questions at the end of each chapter.
