City

The City is ancient, multi-layered. Once a prosperous metropolis, it has now grown beyond its borders, waging countless wars with neighbouring tribes and turning everything that was once green and fertile into a wasteland. In the centre of the City lives the Emperor. Few have seen him, but those who have describe him as a man in his prime, even though he should be ancient. Some people grimly speculate that he is no longer human, if he ever was. A handful have come to the desperate conclusion that the war will only end when the Emperor’s unnaturally long life is ended. Rebels in the maze of the City's sewers, where the poor fight for survival in the dark, and on the blood-soaked battlefields where few heroes can withstand the endless siege, pin their hopes on one man – Shuskar. The former Emperor's general was betrayed long ago and is presumed dead. But under various false names, he has survived, renouncing the City and hiding from his immortal enemy. Now, however, the time has come for him to fight one last battle to free the City from the monster that has nested in its heart, pulling the strings that keep the land steeped in blood.
