Chronicle of the End of the World

The audiobook Kronika konce světa (Chronicle of the End of the World), written by Shigor Birdman, read by Miroslav Černý, directed by Ondřej Černý. CIVILISATION ENDED IN TERROR AND CHAOS. AND THAT WAS THE BETTER PART… Estate agent Johann just wanted a few days' rest from the hustle and bustle of the big city. But his holiday in a mountain cabin soon turns into a fight for survival when an unknown pandemic strikes the world. The lucky ones simply die. But the virus turns most people into bloodthirsty zombies. Johann tries to get back to Brno as quickly as possible, hoping to find help for his dying girlfriend Renáta, but the disease has already engulfed the entire city. In just a few days, the Moravian metropolis is reduced to ruins, fit only for rats and feral dogs. It seems that Johann, who for some reason is immune to the infection, is the last man on Earth. A pistol taken from a dead policeman could solve his despair and fear of terrifying loneliness. Yet Johann pushes on through piles of corpses – both the ordinary kind and the ones trying to eat him – still firmly believing that someone else has survived. When he finally meets someone, the gun saves his life. Because for some people, the zombie apocalypse isn't a nightmare, but a dream come true… SHIGOR BIRDMAN Born in 1979 amidst the smog of Karviná. He originally wanted to develop military simulators but eventually chose video games instead. Now, he mainly converts caffeine into letters as a freelance game programmer, writer, and translator. He still considers the twenty-year-old Vietcong to be the peak of his gaming career. His published books include the military sci-fi Mission That Had to Fail (2005) and the post-apocalyptic Chronicle of the End of the World (2009). After many years of writing exclusively for computer games, he returns with the action-packed bloodbath Old B-Movie Legend. He mostly emerges from his Brno den only in costume or camouflage – equipped with one of his weapons (real or for LARP) – to wander off into the woods or to the sea.
