Champions

The statement by the founder of the modern Olympic Games, Pierre de Coubertin, that “the real Olympic hero is the adult male” did not exactly pave an easy path for women towards a sporting career and their Olympic dream. More than 100 years later, the book Champions follows the lives of pioneers who made an indelible mark on the annals of sport. From Billie Jean King to Mia Hamm to Simone Biles, these distinctive stories are a testament to the long struggle that sportswomen have historically faced, and at the same time a tribute to their exceptional achievements. The Czech edition of the publication includes an original bonus chapter dedicated to Ester Ledecká.
