Another case of Commissioner Van Veeteren
Commissioner Van Veeteren has had a long and successful career with the Maardam Crime Squad. There was only one case he failed to solve - Case G. Fifteen years ago, a woman was found dead at the bottom of a drained swimming pool.
Van Veeteren knows that Jaan G., his hated classmate from elementary school, is responsible for her death, but he can't prove it. Now the former commissioner works in a quiet antique shop, but the unsolved case still haunts him. And then the bankrupt private detective Verlangen, who years ago was tasked with tracking down "Object G", goes missing.
The CID starts to investigate his disappearance and Van Veeteren is hopeful that he will get new evidence and solve the old mystery.
