Carving wood with a knife

For fine carving you need nothing more than a good sharp knife, a piece of suitable wood and a lot of ideas.
You'll find some of them in our book - from beautifully simple projects to impressively complex but still manageable ones.

Woodworking is a relaxing and absorbing hobby that you can indulge in with a minimum of tools and without an expensively furnished workshop.

We will give you advice on choosing the right knife, sharpening and maintaining it, how to grip it correctly and how to work with it safely. Among the listed projects you will find e.g. spoon, fork, ring holder, letter opener, an egg cup, pendant and small figurative motifs. We will also discover the basic skills of woodcarving, such as notching and shallow relief carving, which you can use to decorate a kitchen cutting board.
