Cableway above Landek
The author's novel brings the reader to the Hlučín region, to the Czech-Polish border area. It is set in the near future, when the European Union becomes a federation. Johan Kott, a foundryman, and Truda Lassová, a miner, live in houses under the Landec rock on the outskirts of Ostrava. Braces, foundry pants and a worn shirt, that's Johan. He is happy to go out into the garden, where he keeps goldfish in the pond and chills the beer he and Truda drink. However, their peaceful life is disturbed by the construction of a cable car, which is to connect the former industrial area of Dolní Vítkovice with the Landek hill. Johan's daughter returns home after her divorce, and Truda's son, whose wife, the chairwoman of the Polish separatist party, the League of Silesia, was murdered under mysterious circumstances, also visits more frequently. The striking world of the Hlučín region is also brought closer by the Prajz dialect.
