Bus Karosa Š 11
At the time of its creation, the Karosa Š 11 bus series represented a European design leader. Such a hilarious vehicle perhaps did not exist even in the developed Western countries. At first glance, the compact front end with its large glass area and the overall purposeful and attractive design of the entire body caught the eye. The book deals with all type groups of the Karosa Š 11 series in city, line and long-distance versions, including the articulated version of the ŠM 16.5 type. The first working example of a bus was built in 1961, and a trolleybus in 1964. The trolleybus version did not spread much. These were actually functional samples and a verification series, where only eight vehicles were produced and operated in Pilsen and Bratislava, and one prototype was even built in neighbouring Poland. Therefore, several thousand buses were produced between 1966 and 1981, the majority of which remained with operators in the former Czechoslovakia, while a smaller part of the production went abroad, mainly to Romania and Poland.
