Building construction from the fire point of view

Fire safety in buildings has recently come to the forefront of our society due to the increasing frequency of terrorist attacks, human error and lack of responsibility in work processes, natural disasters and, last but not least, deliberate arson and war operations.
The publication is divided into two basic groups, namely fire prevention and fire repression. In addition to analyzing the combustion process, Fire legislation and code and fire safety solutions are topics mainly focused on the behaviour and protection of the most used materials (wood, steel, unreinforced and reinforced concretes, plastics) in the fire, structural elements and components (perimeter walls, expansion joints, fire walls, glazed structures, fire dampers and soffits, fire partitions, seals and insulation, water curtains), assessment of internal stresses and the degree of damage to the surfaces of reinforced concrete structures due to fire, identification of the fire outbreak on the basis of symptoms and the possibility of escape from high-rise and hall buildings.
The general analysis of fire safety of buildings is supplemented by practical assessments with photographic images, which were selected from the most frequented buildings, i.e. family houses, administrative and residential buildings.
This publication is intended primarily for designers, engineers, technical workers in the construction field, dealing with fire issues and students of secondary schools and universities.
