Brotherhood of the Pink Cross

The audiobook Bratrstvo růžového kříže (The Brotherhood of the Rosy Cross), written by Jan Bauer, narrated by Robert Finta, directed by Vladan Hýl. Murders in the Time of Emperor Rudolf II #6 At the end of the 16th century, Prague is terrified by leaflets from the mysterious Brotherhood of the Rosy Cross, which appear overnight on church gates. Their authors promise the coming of a day of enlightenment and the crushing of the devil of ignorance. However, the Jesuit Augustin Brecht also reads in them an attack on his order and turns to the provincial court to track down and punish the leaflet's author. The court scribe Lukáš Trobl of Květnice is entrusted with the investigation into the mysterious brotherhood, but he takes little pleasure in his task. This is because no one, not even the always well-informed imperial court physician Michael Maier, knows anything about the brotherhood's presence in Prague. But soon, someone starts murdering people in the city, leaving a message with a rosy cross and the letters R and K with their victims. Does this mean that the mysterious brothers are the perpetrators of these terrible crimes? Lukáš doesn't think so; it seems more like someone is settling scores and exploiting people's gullibility. But how is he to find out the truth? JAN BAUER Jan Bauer is a Czech journalist and writer, originally qualified as an agricultural engineer. He applied his journalistic talent and knowledge of agriculture for many years as an editor for the national daily newspaper Zemědělské noviny. He has long lived in a secluded home near Vodňany.
