Two little boys on opposite sides of a big fence
Nine-year-old Bruno doesn't want to leave his good old room, school or friends in Berlin and move to a new, lonely and gloomy house in a mysterious place called Oušic. But Fíra, Bruno's father's superior, decided so and the children have no say in such matters. But who is Bruno going to play with here? All he can see out of the window is a high fence and sometimes strange people behind it, all wearing pyjamas - even in the daytime! And then one day he meets Shmuel, the same age.
