Böö: tradition and present of Buryat shamans

The book is based on many years of research in the areas inhabited by the Buryats, where the author followed for several years the course of the revival of shamanic traditions whose continuity was broken during the period when they fell under the hegemony of the Soviet Union. The results of the research are placed in a broader ethnohistorical context and confronted with the ambiguous understanding of the whole phenomenon of shamanism, which is represented in a wide range of interpretations by the bearers of Buryat traditions themselves.
