Bloody Summer

The historical detective story takes place in August 1306, immediately after the murder of the last Přemyslid king Wenceslas III in Olomouc. The unexplained circumstances of the king's death, which the royal judge Melichar of Roupov is unable to solve, put him in an unfavourable light before the new ruler Henry of Carinthia, Václav's brother-in-law. Melichar prefers to leave Prague for his fortress Roupov, where his life situation becomes even more complicated. In the vicinity of Roupov, the fortresses of neighbouring landowners are being burnt down, moreover, the judge's wife suffers from a strange illness and the local chaplain Zacharias spreads the rumour that she is possessed by the devil. Only her social status prevents him from trying to exorcise it...
