A comprehensive anthology of short stories by leading Czech authors concerning the Brno district known as the Bronx
The best authors from the publishing houses Host and Druhé město wrote texts based on the motifs from the "Black Chronicle", and thus a comprehensive short story anthology called The Bloody Bronx was created.
Their texts concern and touch upon the Brno district known as the Bronx, which is not its official name: that's what a socially excluded locality has been called for thirty years. All these reports and news items, however, date from the second half of the 19th century - and they clearly show that this part of the city was already in great turmoil and social drama in the times when it was still called simply Cejl. Murder, Theft, illegal abortions ending in death, pharmacy poisoning, sometimes just bizarre swaps or marriage scams, almost always lives lived on the edge of existence.
All in all, an engaging world, written by authors whose simple list needs no further comment: Irena Douskova, Kateřina Tučková, Ludvík Němec, Alena Mornštajnová, Bianca Bell, Martin Reiner, Michal Konečný, Štěpán Kučera, Dora Kapral, Michal Sýkora, Petra Dvořáková, Jan Němec, Petr Stančík, Ondřej Hübl, Václav Kahuda or Petra Soukupová.
And in their rendition, the past of a world that is still waiting for its chance.
