Bivoj the Berserker
The Vltava River separates the territory of the Bohemian tribe from Náv, the principality of spirits on the forbidden eastern bank. Only once a year are the lords and elders allowed to cross its waters and ascend the sacred Chrasten to offer sacrifices to the gods at the Vyšehrad sanctuary and ask Princess Libuše for prophecies and judgements in their mutual disputes. This year, however, the annual festivities are preceded by evil omens. Libuše's sister, Kazi, was attacked by a terrifying boar-like demon on her way from her stronghold. The sorceress was saved at the last moment by Bivoj, son of Sudivoj, a hunter from the Strošovec clan. Who summoned the beast? Why is someone trying to sow discord among the Bohemian lords? And how is this connected to the warning from the spirit of Libuše's father, the revered Prince Krok, who appeared to his daughters and brought news of a threat coming from mysterious lands beyond the forests of the dead? Juraj Červenák, author of Černokněžník (The Warlock) and Bohatýr (The Warrior), has built another heroic fantasy full of merciless battles and Slavic magic based on motifs from Old Czech Legends.
