Between Two Ages

If Ján Smetana had wanted to generate more interest in his autobiography, he might have called it 'When Andrej Hlinka Cheated at School and Štefánik Had Girls Wait on Him'. Ján Smetana, better known in Slovak circles by his pseudonym Ondrej Kalina, was a personality with deep spiritual self-reflection, and his memoirs reflect this. Instead of sensational events, he introduces us to life among the Slovak intelligentsia and students.
