Behind the mystery of the stones

The publication is intended primarily for young people interested in collecting and exploring minerals and fossils. You can start by just collecting nice boulders. You will learn how to identify the rocks from which the boulders come and how to start your first collection. For more advanced collectors, there is an introduction to mineralogy and a description of selected minerals of all major groups. Fossils are the subject of chapters on extinct invertebrates, vertebrates, dinosaurs and ancient flora. In order to understand the wider connections with nature and landscape, there are also chapters on geology, which focus on the forces that change the Earth's surface, particularly volcanism, marine activity or karst phenomena.
