Bedrich Golombek: What won't be in history
A raw reportage and documentary testimony of how the occupation was experienced by "everyday people" was published right after the war in 1945. The author of the book, entitled What Will Not Be in History, is Bedřich Golombek, a novelist and journalist associated with the history of Lidové noviny. Golombek wrote down his own experiences during the Second World War in Brno from a minimal distance of time. The work depicts events from 1938 until the end of the war, when the front passed through Brno. The emphasis is on "what won't be in history" - the everyday life of ordinary people in the whirlwind of horrific historical events. The Forgotten Book is an extremely interesting and engaging, as well as literary, testimony of what life was like in 1938-1945 in the largest Moravian city.
