A collection of short stories by Michal Viewegh
Michal Viewegh's new audiobook is named after one of the thirteen short stories, which is also the final story. In them, the author exposes his favourite character - Oskar - to critical moments in his life: marital stereotypes or infidelities, but also almost certain death. The aging hero survives, but soon finds himself in a whirlwind of heavy consequences. One of them is a divorce connected with the disruption of Oskar's previous certainties. We can now appreciate the stories again for their readability and momentum, as well as Viewegh's other creative strengths, including irony, melancholic grotesqueness and, at times, surprisingly strong hyperbole. In a nutshell: The most popular Czech writer is back in the game!
