One child in one womb. Who will be its parent? This literary adaptation of the Czech Television family series of the same name tells a compelling story on the theme of substitute family care. We follow the parallel fates of four couples – the separating Alice and Michal, the civil partners Petr and Vladimír, the seemingly superficial wealthy couple Beáta and Hubert, and the experienced couple Hanka and Kryštof, who already have one child from IVF. They are all vying for the unborn 'baby' of single mother Klára, who is determined to find the best parents for it on her own. However, as is often the case in life, everything gets thoroughly complicated… The dramatic story by authors Kateřina Krobová and Lucie Macháčková explores the various and intricate ways a family can be formed.
