André Maurois: Land of a thousand wishes

A fairy tale about what happens when every wish comes true. Dramatisation by Nastya Kráslová. From the director's notes by M. Disman: In the fairy tale Land of a Thousand Wishes, the children's imagination had to be developed as much as possible, to disrupt the established ideas with new stimuli, freeing them up for other fantasy connections, to give the fairy tale some air, free space, a higher degree of stylization (also with a view to literary dialogue). The second extremely challenging problem was the casting of the main child character Michalka: 7 years old at the earliest, living a fairy tale dream like a child his age, when (to use Nezval's words) 1+1 is not 2, but "yellow shoes" and 0.5 + 0.5 is not 1, but "half-shoes", etc. - and Michalka 9 years old, who is "first in class", 7×8 is definitely 56 for her and "the dream is not really a dream"! Collaborating artists (? ), they decided to try the game with "two" Michalkas - 8 years old playful Evička and 12 years old prudent Květa. The girls had similar vocal colouring, rehearsing alternately but always together, so that they interacted with each other and their voices became even closer in colour. Persons and cast: Miss (Marie Rosůlková), Pharaoh (Miroslav Doležal), raven All-eyed (František Filipovský), Miss Heavenly (Blanka Waleska), Sugar Pigeon (Milan Friedl), Queen of the Villas (Nina Jiránková), Kneckbottom (Jiří Adamíra), narrator (Luděk Munzar).
